Mental health, HIV and AIDS expert centre developed an assessment program in order to increase understanding of the nature and causes of mental health and AIDS problems of PLHIV and factors influencing them. Also, it is needed to identify human and financial resources that are or might be available to respond to mental health and drug problems of PLHIV, as interventions that are socially, culturally, politically and economically appropriate.
Within research activity several rapid assessment studies are planned with the aim to assess needs of PLHIV, in order to provide comprehensive response.
The rapid assessment process has been used frequently in the HIV/AIDS field and has been proven to be instrumental of relevant action. RAR bridges the gap between research and action to develop appropriate interventions. It strives to build local alliances through involving key stakeholders including PLHIV. RAR intends to facilitate rapid results and to initiate sustained action.
