DOCUMENTS OBTAINING

As a part of assistance through provision of free legal aid to refugees IAN mediates in the process of obtaining personal documents from Croatia through power of attorney. This category of documents includes: citizenship certificate, birth certificate, wedding certificate, death certificate, ownership certificate, etc. Birth certificate is valid for six months from the day of issuing, and citizenship certificate is valid for unlimited period of time . Especially important are Croatian citizenship (Domovnica) and Birth certificate (Rodni list), being the documents necessary for exercising basic rights of the refugees, both in Croatia and in Serbia .

These documents can be obtained personally in the Birth Registry Office where the person is registered, through Croatian Consular Office or through a Power of attorney given to someone possessing Croatian personal documents.
Form of the Power of attorney form can be obtained by mail or personally in IAN offices. It has to be filled out in latinic letters and authorised and stamped in a municipal court in the country of refuge.
